Group offering scholarships

The Asian Pacific Community Fund and Verizon have teamed to offer scholarships to graduating high school seniors.

Fifteen awards of $1,000 each will be given. Applicants must be high school seniors in California, Oregon or Washington, or plan to attend college in one of the three states. They also must plan to attend a four-year institution as a full-time student and pursue a degree in math, engineering or technical science in Fall 2012.

Applicants also must have a minimum unweighted grade-point average of 3.0.
