The budget woes in the California State University system have reached such an extreme that system leaders plan to freeze enrollment in Spring 2013 at most campuses. Additionally, all applicants for Fall 2013 will go on a waiting list, pending the results of a tax initiative that will appear on the November ballot.
The proposal has the support of Gov. Jerry Brown. If the tax initiative does not pass this fall, thousands of students will be shut out of the state’s largest public university system. Each fall, about 90,000 of the 700,000 applicants enroll in CSU campuses.
